Moorcroft Subdivision

The Moorcroft Subdivision is located on the northern outskirts of Kaiapoi and comprises of 230 lots, which were constructed in four stages. Work on the project commenced in 1995 with an application to the Waimakariri District Council for the rezoning of the land. The rezoning took considerable time because of complications relating to the protection of the land from flooding. These issues were resolved and construction began in early 2002 after all zoning and drainage issues had been resolved. The first stage comprised of the main boulevard and entry to the subdivision as well as the main infrastructure including the stormwater ponds and sewer pump station. The second and third stages came off the main boulevard to the north and south respectively and the last stage linked the third stage to the nearby school and newly created reserve. The final stage required 50,000 cubic metres of fill to be imported to bring the sections up to the required heights. Construction of the completed subdivision was finished at the end of 2004.
As well as making a successful application to the Environment Court for rezoning Davis Ogilvie & Partners Ltd were involved in the conceptual design and carried out the surveying and engineering works, including design, supervision and administration of the civil contract.
