The development of Kaiata Park for Kaiata Park Developments Ltd, included the rezoning of approximately 68.5ha of rural land into industrial, commercial, residential and rural-residential land. The privately initiated plan change prepared in response to the identified need for an additional commercial and industrial area in the Greymouth area, included an urban design assessment in order to provide an esthetically appealing, compact coastal development which would cater for a mixture of uses, enabling people to live and work in the same area.

Apart from resource management and transport planning, engineering and surveying services for the project Davis Ogilvie provided urban and spatial planning expertise to develop a well-balanced industrial park which has addressed the key elements of a masterplan, being zoning (to position complying zones next to each other), infrastructure (to develop a road hierarchy that reflects the use of the road) and green structure (to see landscaping as an integral part of the scheme and identify multiple purposes for reserve areas).
