Russell is a Licensed Surveyor with 14 years' experience. He specialises in project management, all aspects of rural and urban surveys, greenfield developments, large scale unit title development, and Global Position Surveying (GPS) technology.

Russell has a hands on role and is involved in numerous large scale land development projects and from these has gained in-depth knowledge in pre-purchase reports, concept design and feasibility studies, resource consent applications and hearings, engineering design for subdivisions, contract administration, project management and cadastral surveying for the issue of titles.

Russell’s focus as a Director is on the running of the Professional Services team to ensure positive outcomes for all Davis Ogilvie’s clients.

In October 2004 Russell presented a paper on "Subdivision Design in Evolution" at the 4th Trans Tasman Surveyors Conference in Auckland. The paper was later published in Survey Quarterly (March 2005, Issue 4) and in late 2007 Survey Quarterly published Russell's paper on "Inner City Development" (September 2007, Issue 51).
